A steam generator for a sauna comprises a housing with a heat exchanger designed so as to permit the passage of a liquid and vapour phase heat-transfer agent, a means for heating the liquid heat-transfer agent comprising a means of fuel combustion with a flue comprising a duct for the exit of hot flue gases, a flue duct and a duct for the exit of cooled flue gases connected in series. The heat exchanger also has an inlet for diverting the vapour phase heat-transfer agent to the object to be heated and a means for heating the liquid heat-transfer agent with two tanks, each of which contains a heat storage material in a solid state, and the heat exchanger passes through said tanks. A means for supplying the liquid heat-transfer agent in a quantity to ensure the complete phase transition of the input liquid heat-transfer agent to the vapour phase of the heat-transfer agent upon heating with the heat storage material is installed in the inlet of the heat exchanger.
