PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidification system for overcoming defects of a conventional humidification system.SOLUTION: A humidifier and a humidity sensor for used with a breathing assistance apparatus are disclosed. The humidity sensor preferably includes a means to sense absolute humidity, relative humidity and/or temperature at both of a patient side and a humidifier side. The humidifier also independently controls both of the humidity and temperature of gas. Further, a humidification chamber manifold is disclosed so as to easily connect the humidifier to various inlets, outlets and sensors.
