Compositions and methods are provided for producing livestock having ahornless alleles, including transferring ahornless alleles to bovine species without altering other genes or chromosomal parts. Animals can be genetically modified to have no horns. One such process involves introgression of bovine acorn allelic alleles. Thus, livestock breeds are made to accept ahornless alleles without altering other traits of livestock.
