An articulation stylet that can be used with a tracheal intubation system is disclosed. An articulation stylet and a method for using a system incorporating the articulation stylet are also disclosed. In some examples, a stylet adapted for mounting an endotracheal tube includes a shaft and a control wire. The shaft includes a distal shaft portion, a proximal shaft portion, and an expansion connection that joins the distal shaft portion to the proximal shaft portion. The proximal shaft portion has a body portion and a tip portion. The tip portion includes the tip portion and has higher flexibility than the main body portion.
