The present invention relates to a method of detecting the presence of an antibody to an avian influenza hemagglutinin antigen in a sample from a subject, wherein the antibody binds to an epitope of an avian influenza hemagglutinin antigen, comprising the steps of cloning a nucleic acid encoding an avian influenza antigen into a vector, infiltrating a plant cell with the vector, recovering the antigen from the plant, contacting the sample with the antigen, and detecting the formation of an antibody–antigen complex, wherein the antibody-antigen complex comprises antibodies in the sample bound to the antigen and wherein the formation of an antibody–antigen complex confirms that the subject has been exposed to an avian influenza hemagglutinin antigen. The present invention also relates to a device for assaying the presence of an antibody to avian influenza hemagglutinin antigen in a sample from a subject.La présente invention concerne un procédé de détection de la présence d'un anticorps contre un antigène d'hémagglutinine de la grippe aviaire dans un échantillon provenant d'un sujet, l'anticorps se liant à un épitope d'un antigène d'hémagglutinine de la grippe aviaire, comprenant les étapes de clonage d'un acide nucléique codant pour un antigène de la grippe aviaire dans un vecteur, d'infiltration du vecteur dans une cellule végétale, de récupération de l'antigène de la plante, de mise en contact de l'échantillon avec l'antigène, et de détection de la formation d'un complexe anticorps-antigène, le complexe anticorps-antigène comprenant des anticorps dans l'échantillon lié à l'antigène et la formation d'un complexe anticorps-antigène confirmant que le sujet a été exposé à un antigène d'hémagglutinine de la grippe aviaire.
