The present invention comprises a new class of Gemini surfactants having general formula (I). More specifically, the present invention provides ester-linked anioinic, cationic and nonionic Gemini surfactant derivatives. The present invention also provides process of synthesis said ester-linked Gemini surfactant derivatives. The gemini surfactants synthesized as per present invention are having excellent wettability, low foamability and antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi activity. Formula (I)
