PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger and a heart-lung machine capable of surely removing air while suppressing the decline of a heat exchange rate.
SOLUTION: A hollow fiber membrane 3 formed of a plurality of hydrophobic and air-permeable hollow fibers 4 is provided in the heat exchanger including a plurality of tubular bodies 2 in which cold and warm water for temperature adjustment is made to flow, a housing 5 for housing the tubular bodies 2 and a sealing member 6 for isolating a fluid flowing while being in contact with the surface of the tubular bodies 2 from the cold and warm water and forming the flow path of the fluid inside the housing 5. The hollow fiber membrane 3 is arranged so that the fluid which flows out from the flow path 7 passes through the hollow fiber membrane 3 on the exit side of the flow path 7 inside the housing 5. The housing 5 is provided with an opening 10 for exposing the opening ends of the respective hollow fibers 4 forming the hollow fiber membrane 3 to the outside. A gap between the inner side of the opening 10 and the hollow fibers 4 is sealed.
