A wall mountable pet interaction device 100, comprising a communication interface 110 configured for wireless communication with a remote device 200 such as a mobile telephone or computer. The device further comprises an audio-visual apparatus 150 such as a camera configured to present audioÂvisual information received from the remote device and/or capture and transmit audio-visual information to the remote device, a dispenser 140 configured to store and dispense at least one treat and a sensor 130 configured to sense an indication of the pet and, upon sensing the indication, to cause a communication session to be initiated with the remote device. The sensor can be a motion or heat sensor, a microphone or image sensor. The communication session can also be initiated by the remote device. The device is programmable and has a memory.
