The invention provides a novel method of preparing a filter media by thermallybonding silver-coated nanofiber fabrics to a dirt-retaining membrane, achemical-retainingmembrane, a pathogen-retaining membrane, or a combination thereof Theinvention alsorelates to the use of silver-coated nanofiber fabric layer as a component of amicroorganism-killing membrane in filter media for a liquid or air filtrationsystem. Thefilter media of the invention offers efficient disinfection effects,maintaining a lowpressure drop and a high flow rate when in use. Further, the filter media isadhesive-layerfree and contains at least one thermal binding layer made of spunbondednonwoven polymeric fabrics. The invention also features a water-purificationcartridgeand a portable water system thereof.
