PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide instruments having different temperature-measuring means for measuring a temperature in medical, especially dental, instruments or of at least a part of the instrument.SOLUTION: A handpiece is disclosed. Temperature-measuring means (4), may be configured, for example, to contactlessly measure a temperature of an interior space (11) to be heated by heat sources (5), (6), and (7) of an instrument (1) by detection of electromagnetic radiation. The temperature-measuring means may be configured, for example, as electrical temperature-measuring means or include a magnetic material whose magnetic property is temperature dependent and/or represents a temperature-dependant course.
