PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a small, light, inexpensive and simple device is required since a flow cytometer is used as one of methods for sorting and fractionating predetermined cells in a cell suspension to measure a population distribution, but has problems, such as a large size, a high price, and a skill and time to be required.SOLUTION: The method for separating and detecting a sample using a continuous density gradient comprises: controlling a fluid by centrifugal force to prepare a continuous concentration (density) gradient; observing separation due to cell densities in real time by laying and centrifuging a cell suspension; and analyzing a number distribution (a density spectrum) for each density of cells included in a sample from an imaged image; and collecting desired cells.
