PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mist generator capable of preventing freezing of water stored in a water storage room and ensuring driving a drive motor.SOLUTION: If an operation switch 42 is operated, a temperature sensor 23 detects a temperature of water stored in a water storage chamber 8. If the detected temperature is lower than 0°C, then it is determined that the water in the water storage room 8 is frozen, driving of a drive motor 13 is stopped, and a heating heater 22 is turned on to heat the water in the water storage room 8. If the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 23 is equal to or higher than 0°C, then it is determined that the water in the water storage room 8 is defrosted, the heating heater 22 is turned off, and the driving of the drive motor 13 is started. By doing so, even if there is a possibility that a surrounding temperature of a device main body 1 is low and that the water in the water storage room 8 is frozen, the driving of the drive motor 13 is started after the water surrounding a drive shaft 18 is defrosted.
