The passive bending portion includes a first area including two coupling portions that couple two adjacent bending pieces rotatably around two rotation axes crossing at a first angle around a central axis of an insertion portion with respect to a second direction orthogonal to the first direction and a second area including two coupling portions that couple another two adjacent bending pieces rotatably around two second rotation axes crossing at a second angle larger than the first angle with respect to the second direction.
