A filtration system comprising a personal respirator, a filter cartridge configured for the personal respirator, the filter cartridge comprising a filter housing comprising an inlet through which untreated gas enters and an outlet from which treated gas exits, a filter media contained within the filter housing configured to treat the gas passing through the filter housing, a region of the filter housing configured to connect to a fluid manifold and an electromagnetic identification device attached to or within the filter housing and configured to modify an electromagnetic field generated by a radio frequency generator, wherein the identification device is configured to have a resonant frequency that is higher than a base frequency of the electromagnetic field generated by the radio frequency generator and a sensor system comprising the radio frequency generator and a controller configured to perform an operation based on the electromagnetic field that is modified by the electromagnetic identification device.
