PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter vial kit which has a cup for holding a filter in position on a piston during use so that no fluid passes around the edges of the filter.SOLUTION: A filter vial kit comprises: a tubular vial 42 a piston 10 having a distal piston flange 28 a filter support 16 located at the distal end 14 of the piston 10 a retainer cup 30 and a filter 40. The retainer cup 30 has a cup seal 38 extending outward from the proximal end 32 of the retainer cup 30 a distance greater than the diameter of the tubular vial 42.
