Device and procedure for treatment of fresh animal blood - blood is agitated and cooled ready for transport or processing, using compact appts. and without addn. of anti coagulants
Blood is stirred in a receiving vessel without producing froth, and is immediately transferred by a pump to a cooling device. During stirring, the blood is moved downwards and outwards towards the wall of the vessel. A peristaltic pump is used and is operated by a capacitative level switch in the vessel. The cooler is in the form of a coaxial cylinder, and flow of the coolant is regulated by the temp. of the blood. The receiving vessel, pump and cooler are placed immediately adjacent to each other, and are mounted in an easily transportable enclosure. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in the handling of fresh animal blood which must be prevented from coagulating in the period between slaughtering and further use. A system of natural treatment is provided, i.e. the addn. of chemicals avoided, and the blood is treated without the need for large receiving vessels. The proposed treatment has no effects which might interfere with the operation of subsequent processing stages.
