The present invention is an acrylic resin emulsion for a hairdressing agent. The acrylic resin emulsion is suitable for producing a hairdressing agent that has excellent and balanced washability and styling performance (hairdressing performance hair redressing performance tactile properties) is obtained by emulsion polymerizing a monomer composition [I] and a monomer composition [II] and is characterized by satisfying conditions (i) (ii) and (iii). (i) At least one of the monomer composition [I] and the monomer composition [II] includes a methacrylate monomer. (ii) The glass transition temperature (Tg2) as found by the Fox equation for a polymer that is polymerized using the monomer composition [II] is at least 30 higher than the glass transition temperature (Tg1) as found by the Fox equation for a polymer that is polymerized using the monomer composition [I]. (iii) The mixing proportions (weight ratio) of the monomer composition [I] and the monomer composition [II] are [I]:[II]=50:50 99:1.
