The invention relates in one aspect to the identification of compounds that inhibit COUP-TFII activity. In certain embodiments, the compounds of the invention have submicromolar activity against COUP-TFII. In other embodiments, the compounds of the invention have no measurable effect on COUP-TFII-negative cells.
