The casualty carrier for hands-free carrying and transporting an injured person by an individual comprises flexible body panel 4 with shoulder straps 14 secured to first end 6; and pair of first and second securing straps 20,22,30,32 securable to each other, and located further from the first end 6 than the shoulder straps 14. The panel 4 may be widest in the middle. A first and second securing strap 20,30 may be a continuous band of webbing that extends along a side of the panel 4 and cross over a second band of webbing. There is also a method of using a casualty carrier in a hands-free manner where the second securing straps 30,32 pass over the shoulders of the casualty and individual. There is also a method of using a casualty carrier in a stretcher configuration where the second securing straps 30,32 pass through a retaining loop 60 on the rear of the panel 14.
