the present invention relates to systems and methods for determining the renal glomerular filtration rate or assessing renal function in a patient in need thereof. the method includes administering a pyrazine compound of formula (i) to a patient and monitoring the rate at which the patient's kidneys clear pyrazine from the patient's systemic circulation. the pyrazine compound fluoresces when exposed to electromagnetic radiation that is detected using one or more sensors. the rate at which fluorescence decreases in the patient is used to calculate the renal glomerular filtration rate in the patient.a presente invenção refere-se a sistemas e métodos para determinação da taxa de filtragem glomerular renal ou avaliação da função renal em um paciente com necessidade dos mesmos. o método inclui administração de um composto pirazina de fórmula (i) a um paciente e monitoramento da taxa em que os rins do paciente eliminam a pirazina da circulação sistêmica do paciente. o composto pirazina fluoresce quando exposto à radiação eletromagnética que é detectada usando um ou mais sensores. a taxa na qual a fluorescência diminui no paciente é usada para calcular a taxa de filtragem glomerular renal no paciente.
