PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of generating an ultrasonic image in which azimuth resolution of an area of interest is always high.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus comprises: a reception unit 12 an image generation unit 15a a decision unit 15c and a calculation unit. The reception unit generates a plurality of pieces of reflection wave data respectively corresponding to a plurality of different sound speeds by executing addition processing using a plurality of reception delay times respectively based on the plurality of different sound speeds to a plurality of reflection wave signals generated in an ultrasonic probe 1. The image generation unit generates a plurality of ultrasonic images respectively corresponding to the plurality of different sound speeds respectively on the basis of the plurality of pieces of reflection wave data. The decision unit decides a set sound speed on the basis of a frequency of each of the plurality of sound speeds obtained by comparing luminance values or contrast values of a plurality of sections in the plurality of ultrasonic images for each section.
