The present invention provides methods for preventing, inhibiting or treating a surgical site infection associated with a surgical operation comprising the step of applying to the surgical site a biocompatible, biodegradable substrate being impregnated and/or having its surface coated fully or partially with a matrix composition which provides local controlled and prolonged release of at least one pharmaceutically active agent at the surgical site.La présente invention concerne des procédés de prévention, d'inhibition ou de traitement d'une infection de site chirurgical associé à une opération chirurgicale comprenant l'étape d'application sur le site chirurgical d'un substrat biodégradable, biocompatible étant imprégné et/ou ayant sa surface revêtue totalement ou partiellement avec une composition de matrice qui permet la libération contrôlée et prolongée d'au moins un agent pharmaceutiquement actif au site chirurgical.
