The present invention provides methods and compositions for the treatment and prevention of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and for the prevention of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in MDS patients. In some embodiments such methods comprise administration of active agents that are Wnt/βcatenin pathway inhibitors. In some such methods delivery of such active agents is targeted to bone marrow stromal cells.
