PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polypeptide which has few anticoagulant effects and has cytoprotection at least, and to provide a medicament which contains the polypeptide as an active ingredient.SOLUTION: Polypeptide consists of an amino acid sequence shown in a specific sequence, but not particularly limited as long as it has E5 activity. (I) It has cytoprotective activity and (II) promotes an activation of protein C. It is acquired from the transformed cell prepared by integrating a DNA which encodes a polypeptide into an expression vector to transfect this into a host cell.【課題】少なくとも細胞保護作用を有しかつ抗凝固作用が少ない新規なポリペプチド及び該ポリペプチドを有効成分として含む医薬を提供する。【解決手段】ポリペプチドは、Ｅ５活性を有するものであれば特に限定されないが、特定の配列で示されるアミノ酸配列からなり、（Ｉ）細胞保護活性を有し、かつ（ＩＩ）プロテインＣの活性化を促進する。ポリペプチドをコードするＤＮＡを発現ベクターに組み込み、これを宿主細胞にトランスフェクトして調製された形質転換細胞より取得する。【選択図】なし
