A disposable diaper according to the present invention has a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction intersecting the longitudinal direction and includes: an absorbing body that has an absorber for absorbing excreta a dorsal side waist section located at one end of the absorbing body and a ventral side waist section located at the other end of the absorbing body. The disposable diaper is characterized in that a cut part having a width in the lateral direction smaller than the maximum width of the absorber is provided in the middle of the ventral side waist section in the lateral direction and at the upper end of the ventral side waist section in the longitudinal direction and in that an elastic member extending in the lateral direction is provided at each side of the cut part in the lateral direction.
