Unique and distinct adhesive patterns are applied to base webs such as nonwoven webs. The adhesive pattern may include a plurality of treated discrete zones that may extend parallel to the longitudinal direction of the web. Each treated individual zone may include a head portion connected to the tail portion. However, in one embodiment, the head portion may have a greater amount of adhesive composition compared to the amount of adhesive composition contained in the tail portion on a mass basis per zone. The overall length of the individual zones treated can be relatively short compared to adhesive patterns previously produced using conventional slot coating processes.
