The disclosure relates to the use of at least one histamine H4 receptor antagonist in the preparation of a medicament for the inhibition of post-operative adhesion formation in a body between tissue surfaces in a body cavity having been subjected to a surgical procedure, wherein the at least one histamine H4 receptor antagonist is selected from the group consisting of 2-aminopyrimidines, particularly [5-(4,6-dimethyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-4- methyl-pyrimidin-2-yl]-[3-(1-methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-propyl]-amine； pharmaceutically acceptable salts, hydrates, solvates and mixtures of any of said H4 receptor antagonists.
