Nail coating compositions are disclosed that comprise (i) a radiation curable component that comprises an acrylate- and/or allyl-terminated oligomer and at least one acrylate monomer and (ii) a thiol component as defined therein comprising a compound that has two or more SH groups which is present in an amount of between 5% and 90% w/w of the nail coating composition. Also disclosed are a package that comprises the said nail coating composition, a method of applying the nail coating composition to a nail and use of the thiol compound defined above to improve the properties of the said nail coating composition. The properties of the nail coating composition that are improved by the said thiol include chip resistance, good adhesion to the nail, a high gloss finish and a short dry-to-touch time.
