Methods for detecting and reducing errors in motion sensor readings are disclosed. The methods involve receiving physiological attributes, such as heart rate, and attributes, such as an athlete's body mass index. Based on the BMI or other parameters being out of range, the methods involve selecting a protocol such as a heart rate measurement protocol.
