A method of implanting a bone screw in a vertebra may include initially inserting a bone screw and a bone screw delivery mechanism through a proximal end of a guide tube along a first trajectory. The proximal end of the bone screw is attached to the distal end of the bone screw delivery mechanism and the distal end of the guide tube is positioned adjacent the vertebra. The method then advances the bone screw and bone screw delivery mechanism through the bend of the guide tube exposing the bone screw from the distal end of the guide tube along the second trajectory into contact with the vertebrae.
