The invention relates to the treatment and subsequent use of a propolis containing composition. The treatment is provided to allow the composition to be rendered with a reduced odour and/or to be rendered more palatable and/or more soluble. The treatment includes the steps of contacting the propolis with water for a predetermined period of time and removing a layer of material which collects on the composition.
