A bale (20) wrapper apparatus comprises a table (28, 29) for supporting the bale (20) and rotating the bale (20) about a first axis (13) a film dispenser comprising a film holder (11) and a pre-stretcher unit a drive means for driving relative rotation between the table (28, 29) and the film dispenser about a second axis (14) that is substantially perpendicular to the first axis (13), and a control unit that controls the pre-stretcher unit. The control unit is configured to control the pre-stretcher unit such that during rotation of the bale (20), the amount of pre-stretching applied to the film alternates between a first elongation level and a second elongation level, wherein the first elongation level is greater than the second elongation level, such that a part of the film that is pre-stretched at the second elongation level is positioned on a corner of the bale (20), and a part of the film that is pre-stretched at the first elongation level is positioned on an end face or a side surface of the bale (20).
