A steam generator according to the present invention is characterized in that: water inlets of a main tank in which a heater is embedded and an auxiliary tank in which a water level sensor is embedded are connected through a common connection pipe outlets of the main tank and the auxiliary tank are separately formed and each of water level measuring optical sensors is installed on the main tank and the auxiliary tank. Accordingly, a steam generator according to the present invention prevents lime components from having an effect on a water level sensor within an auxiliary tank by performing an operation of heating a heater of the main tank, and then evaporating water such that the lime components contained in water is flown into the auxiliary tank during the generation of steam.
