PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide manufacture of a bioactive gel from ECM which avoids cumbersome preparation and purification steps and yet results in a gel that retains the bioactivity of the original material.SOLUTION: The present invention is directed to a method of manufacturing a bioactive gel from ECM material, i.e., a gel which retains bioactivity, and can serve as a scaffold for preclinical and clinical tissue engineering and a regenerative medicine approach to tissue reconstruction. The manufacturing method takes advantage of a new recognition that a bioactive gel from ECM material can be created by digesting particularized ECM material in an alkaline environment and neutralizing to provide a bioactive gel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
