Disclosed is an oxidative dye for oxidative color change of keratinic fibers, in particular human hair, comprising: at least one alkalising agent； at least one oxidative dye precursor of the developer type； at least one oxidative dye precursor of the coupler type； at least one extract of Quassia amara and, based on the weight of the oxidative dye, from about 0 to less than about 0.1 wt % peroxide compounds. Most preferably, the at least one extract of Quassia amara amounts to 0.15 to 0.5 wt.% based on the total composition. Preferably, the extract is obtained from the bark-free wood of the plant. Preferably, the oxidative dye contains at least one cosmetic oil (e.g. natural and synthetic hydrocarbons (e.g. paraffin oils, isoparaffins etc.)). Preferably, the composition further comprises a surfactant.
