The transportable seating aid has a backrest 4 and a seat 6 connected by opposing side members 8 that are able to support a portion of a user’s arm. Handles for lifting the aid located on the backrest 4 and seat 6, and the aid is foldable between a collapsed configuration for storage and an expanded configuration for use. Releasable connectors may secure the aid in the collapsed configuration. The aid may be biased towards the expanded configuration. An opening or slit in the side member or between the side member and the seat 6 or backrest 4 may be provided to allow a seat belt therethrough. The seat 6 may have a cushion filler or a gripper on an under surface to improve grip on a substrate receiving the aid. Also provided is a method of forming the transportable seating aid including the step of securing a handle to each of the backrest 4 and seat 6.
