PURPOSE: An ultraviolet ray-based water treating apparatus is provided to improve the efficiency of water treatment and to rapidly respond to problems based on the simple structure of the apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An ultraviolet ray-based water treating apparatus includes a main body(121), an introducing part(122), a discharging part(123), a plurality of ultraviolet ray irradiating parts(110), a water leakage sensor(200), a valve(150), a controlling part, and an ultrasound wave-based washing unit(170). The main body is divided into three regions(S1 to S3) based on partitions(161, 162). The total volume of the second region and the third region is the same as the volume of the first region. The second region and the third region are arranged at both sides of the first region. Water is introduced into the first region through the introducing part. The water is discharged through the discharging part. The ultraviolet ray irradiating parts are extended to first directions which cross the first region. The water leakage sensor detects whether water through the first region flows through either the second region or the third region. The valve blocks the introducing part. The controlling part drives the valve based on the information of the water leakage sensor.
