PURPOSE: A compound is provided to be separable from natural material, especially seaweed, to have excellent antioxidant activity and to have excellent safety for human body. CONSTITUTION: A compound is represented by chemical formula 1. The compound is Sargassum micracanthum or a compound separated from extracts thereof. A separating and purifying method of the compound in chemical formula 1 comprises a step of obtaining Sargassum micracanthum fraction by adding organic solvent into the Sargassum micracanthum, and a step obtaining the compound in chemical formula 1 by separating and purifying the compound from the Sargassum micracanthum friction.본 발명은 신규한 화합물 및 이의 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 천연물, 특히 해조류로부터 분리한 신규한 화합물로서 우수한 항산화 활성을 가진다. 본 발명은 천연물로부터 분리 및 정제한 화합물이므로 인체에 있어서 안전성을 가진 화합물이다. 또한, 본 발명은 우수한 항산화 효능을 가짐에 따라, 천연물-유래 물질을 이용하는 식품, 제약 및 화장품 분야에 있어서 기초적인 자료를 제공한다.
