PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing capable of flexibly accommodating to pulling of a fish and accordingly pulling in a fish more quickly than a case of constantly performing a taking-up operation.SOLUTION: The electric fishing reel for rotating a spool in a taking-up direction of a fish line by a motor, includes: means for detecting a rotating direction of the spool and means for measuring a delivery speed when the rotation direction of the spool becomes a delivery direction of the fish line. When the delivery speed exceeds a preset reference speed, the electric reel stops power supply to the motor to interrupt the taking-up operation.
