Es werden Gemische von Guerbetalkoholen, ihre Verwendung in kosmetischen und/oder pharmazeutischen Zubereitungen, sowie kosmetische und/oder pharmazeutische Zubereitungen, enthaltend Gemische von Guerbetalkoholen beschrieben. Als Vaselineersatz geeignet sind insbesondere Guerbetalkoholgemische mit einem durch dynamische Differenzkalorimetrie (DSC) gemessenen Schmelzbereich zwischen -20 °C und +70 °C, wobei die Breite des Schmelzbereichs mindestens 30 Temperaturgrade umfasst und das Maximum des Schmelzbereichs bei 35 ± 10 °C liegt. Diese sind beispielsweise erhältlich durch die Umsetzung von a) 55 bis 95 Gew. % Cetylstearylalkohol, b) 5 bis 45 Gew.% Fettalkoholen mit einer Kettenlänge von 8 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen und c) gegebenenfalls einem aliphatischen Diol mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen.Mixtures of Guerbet alcohols, their use in cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations, as well as cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations comprising mixtures of Guerbet alcohols are described.
