In order to overcome the limitations and problems that earlier apparatus and earlier methods have experienced, an apparatus (10) for controlling an amount of ethylene (C2H4) in a space (12) is proposed, said apparatus (10) comprising:- a source (18) of the ethylene (C2H4);- a distribution conduit (20) having a first end in fluid communication with the source (18) and a second end extending into the space (12) for delivery of the ethylene (C2H4) to the space (12);;- a sensor (32) exposed to the space (12) for generating a signal of a concentration of the ethylene (C2H4) sensed and already present in the space (12); and- a controller (28) in communication with the source (18) and the sensor (32) for dosing an amount of the ethylene (C2H4) from the source (18) through said distribution conduit (20) into the space (12) responsive to the signal from the sensor (32).A related method of controlling an amount of ethylene (C2H4) in a space (12) is also proposed.
