PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact endoscope apparatus to which either a fixed type endoscope or an adaptor-replacement type endoscope can be connected.
SOLUTION: To the endoscope apparatus 100, either the adaptor-replacement type endoscope 1B to which an optical adapter 4 including an LED 5 is mountable or a fixed type endoscope comprising an insertion part having the built-in LED 5 can be connected. The endoscope apparatus 100 comprises: a constant current circuit 2b: an adapter kind determination circuit for determining the kind of the optical adapter 4 and a control circuit 2a which reads endoscope kind information indicating the adapter-replacement type endoscope or the fixed type endoscope, determines whether the connected endoscope is of the adapter-replacement type or the fixed type, controls the constant current circuit 2b to supply a current of a predetermined first value to the LED 5 based on the determination result of the adapter kind determination circuit in the case of the adapter-replacement type endoscope, and controls the constant current circuit 2b to supply a current of a predetermined second value to the LED 5 in the case of the fixed type endoscope.
