The present disclosure provides methods for producing a vaccinecomposition containing a pathogen that is rendered noninfectious by exposuretohydrogen peroxide. The methods disclosed herein are suitable for thepreparation ofvaccines for a wide variety of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria andparasites.The disclosure also provides vaccine compositions (medicaments) containing apathogen inactivated by exposure to hydrogen peroxide. Methods for elicitinganimmune response in a subject by administering vaccine compositions containingahydrogen peroxide inactivated pathogen are also provided.
