The invention relates to a device for generating stimuli on a human or animal body, comprising a first and a second stimulus element (1a, b), wherein the first and the second stimulus elements (1a, b) can be fitted on the body in a state in which they are spatially separate from one another, and each stimulus element (1a, b) comprises at least one securing means for fastening the stimulus element (1a, b) on the body, an energy supply and at least one stimulus generator (2a, b), and the stimulus generator (2a, b) is suitable for generating a stimulus at the site of the body on which it is fastened, characterized in that the stimulus generators (2a, b) can be controlled via a control element (3), and the stimulus generators (2a, b) can be controlled alternately by the control element (3), and it is possible to predetermine the frequency of the alternate control operations. This gives a robust, straightforward means for stimulating the brain bilaterally by alternate stimulation operations.
