The device has an external surface including an external substance that is at least one of a coating or an impregnation, comprising alexidine in an amount that is both anti thrombogenically effective and anti microbially effective. The device also has an internal surface including an internal substance that is at least one of a coating or an impregnation, comprising alexidine in an amount that is both anti thrombogenically effective and anti microbially effective.
