PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable engine work machine capable of determining whether a throttle valve is partially opened or fully opened without the usage of a sensor for detecting an opening of the throttle valve.SOLUTION: A portable engine work machine (1) according to this invention includes an internal combustion engine (2) having a throttle valve (2a), a throttle lever (4) for adjusting an opening of the throttle valve (2a) of the internal combustion engine (2), and a control device (12) provided in the internal combustion engine (2).
