The end expiratory detection method comprises: detecting an airway pressure value saving a plurality of airway pressure values detected determining whether the number of identical data among the airway pressure values is larger than a predetermined number and obtaining a positive end expiratory pressure value if the number of identical data among the airway pressure values is larger than the predetermined number. The method and the apparatus can detect the positive end expiratory pressure in time.
