Provided are compositions including a direct interface between a biological tissue and a crystalline material, wherein the crystalline material has a crystallization temperature that exceeds the temperature at which the biological tissue incurs thermal damage. Also provided are methods for producing said compositions. The ability to apply crystalline materials to biological tissues has wide applicability, e.g., with cyborg applications.
