PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an SAR (Specific Absorption Ratio) or reduce nonuniformity of B1 distribution in an MRI apparatus in a high magnetic field.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus adjusts a posture of a subject 103a or 103b in imaging to such an extent that it is not the burden on a patient as the subject, and improves at least one of a local specific absorption ratio of a prescribed site and uniformity of a high frequency magnetic field distribution of a region of interest, more than that of before the adjustment. The adjustment is performed by a posture adjusting member 121 provided in the MRI apparatus.
