PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking assist device that is foldable, is configured to be open to the front of a user and to allow an approach to a Western-style toilet seat in an advanced state, and is usable as a wheelchair, and to provide a walking assist robot using the walking assist device.SOLUTION: The walking assist device includes: a rearward projection part 13 extending to the rearward of main wheels 3, formed at left/right side frames 1 including small-diameter front wheels 2 and the large-diameter main wheels 3 and a pair of left/right inclination rods 14, in which their upper parts are inclined forward. An openable/closable X-shaped link 15 is provided between the inclined rods 14 to connect the left/right side frames 1 at a rear part thereof and open a front part between the left/right side frames 1. The walking assist device can be used as a walking assist robot by setting the main wheels 3 as electrical wheels.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
